Some of us get together once each month. We meet to eat, plan, and catch up with what’s going on in each other’s lives. Each month our meeting is at a different member’s house - so sometimes we’re in the Lowville area, sometimes Watertown, and sometimes Black River. People come when they can, and we often bring our children so that they can play together. We write and send minutes of the meeting to anyone who normally attends. It’s a nice group, and I find that I look forward to the meetings.
Each year our little group attempts to provide opportunities for others in our area to meet, support, and socialize (we understand that not everyone wants to do the monthly meeting thing).
We’re proud of the things we’re doing. Besides organizing our social activities ( elaborated upon in this newsletter) we have also;
· Established a DS section at Flower Memorial Library which houses a tremendous collection of books and materials.
· Created New Parent Packets and placed them in area hospitals to help introduce parents of newborns with DS to our community.
· Established a website as well as a Face book and Twitter account to help us stay connected to each other.
· Brought in experts to help prepare us to meet the needs and challenges associated with DS.
We encourage everyone to participate as much as you would like .
If you would like to attend one of our meetings, please contact Alicia Bach at 773-3437. We’ll provide you with directions and information about how to attend the next meeting.
By registering as a member of our group, you are letting us know that you want to participate in our activities, believe in our mission, and wish to help us form a network of support for people with Downs Syndrome in the Northern New York area. By collecting the following information, we are hoping that we will be better able to provide the support that we all need to help each other.

Collecting Pictures For 2014 Calendar
We are planning to create another calendar for 2014. It was a lot of fun creating our 2013 calendar and unveiling it at last year’s luncheon and auction, and we even made a little profit! We’re hoping that you may have pictures that you would like to contribute for next year’s calendar. Think of common themes for each month—or just send the pictures that love! We’d love to include them! Please email pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Sept. 1st, 2013.
